The act of consumption is complex, because it involves individuals who wish to satisfy material or immaterial needs and firms, which, in a market environment, try to sell their products and get profits. Such pathologies span from sub consumption (being poor and consume less than necessary to survive) to addiction to consume. And this has consequences in the environment.
